Common Misconceptions About Vehicle Wraps

The vehicle wrap industry is in a constant growth with new materials, technologies and installation methods. Due to such a large growth and talk of wrapping vehicles there have been some myths and misinformation floating around so we would like to clarify some of these common misconceptions about vehicle wraps.

Myth 1: Leased vehicles cannot be wrapped.
We often apply vehicle wraps to leased cars. The wrap serves as a protectant of the paint on the vehicle and can be removed when your leasing period is over.

Myth 2: Only white vehicles can be wrapped.
What a myth! We can absolutely wrap cars of any color, make and model.

Myth 3: Wraps are a waste of money.
Compared to other types of paid advertising, vehicle wraps are the most cost effective.
You already own your vehicle and with a onetime payment you own your wrap so there are not any monthly costs. The vehicle is driven daily getting more exposure than any online advertising host, plus the wrap often pays for itself with one or two jobs gained from a potential client seeing your wrap and using the services offered.

Myth 4: I (the customer) can install and/or design the wrap myself.
This is not so much a myth, more of a suggestion. Sure, a lot of people can design the wrap and install it themselves but as the professionals here at Fast-Trac we advise against this if you do not have experience.
Vehicle wraps are laid out on custom templates, designed and prepped for print in certain ways to ensure accuracy when installed. Clients that layout their own wrap risk their project taking longer if our design team must edit the files to fit properly on the vehicle. When wraps are purchased at Fast-Trac Designs we take your information and produce your layout then after approval and printing is complete we install in house. So, no need for our clients to attempt designing, installing and risking having a wrap with flaws.

Myth 5: Vehicle wraps are permanent.
False. We can remove vehicle wraps and the only thing that may cause difficulties is
if the wrap has been on for over five years and not maintained (cleaned, waxed etc.)
Nonetheless we can still remove the wrap and even apply a new one.

We hope this information helped you understand vehicle wraps a little more. If you have more questions or have heard some other myths about vehicle wraps feel free to ask in the comments below.

Flippin The Bird - Window graphics

Occasionally we get some very unique vehicles at our shop in Phoenix, Arizona and the owner wants to have vinyl graphics created to make it even more one of a kind. This recently occurred when a client brought in an old airplane that he had converted into a camper. The wings have been removed and the inside adjusted to create a  comfortable sleeping space however, it was not complete yet.
Our client wanted to add some fun to the camper by adding photos printed on 3M vinyl to the windows creating a look that maybe there was a party going on inside.
He gave all creative freedom to our lead graphic designer to come up with something "wild" well, he did just that.

We applied window wraps to the plane with a very extraordinary printed design showing a crazy pilot, a dog with a 6-pack and a monkey in the back just to name a few. Our customer was thrilled with the layout and said "you nailed it!" to our designer, whom created the appearance of chaos in the plane windows. There is a lot to look at if you happen to pass this on the road or at a camp site. It will make you laugh or at least say "that's crazy."

Do You Have Proper Artwork?

If you are looking into having vehicle wraps, large format graphics or T-shirts done you will be asked this question. Do you have proper artwork? Maybe you are uncertain but the Fast-Trac Designs team is here to help you understand proper art formats, unusable art formats and what options you have to acquire the necessary art in order to complete your project.

First we would like to tell you about raster art and vector art. Raster art is what most internet images and photographs are formatted in. Made with pixels, (small squares that make up the image.) raster art cannot be manipulated without distorting the picture. Therefore, if we enlarge a raster image it will become pixilated (blurry.) Some raster files can be used depending on resolution of the photo however the image may still become pixilated. Raster file types are commonly .jpg .png .tiff & .gif

Now for vector art. This is what we need in order to properly produce vehicle wraps, screen printed apparel and other large format prints. When art is created in vector format it is made with lines and points that allow the ability to enlarge the art and it will never lose resolution. This art format is created in design programs such as Adobe Illustrator. Vector file types include .ai, .pdf & .eps

I know, now you are asking "Can my raster art be converted into vector art?" The answer is YES! We do have a very knowledgeable design department that can recreate your art to be the proper usable vector format.

Whew! That is a lot of information, but don't worry because the team at Fast-Trac Designs is here to guide you and your artwork is just the beginning. We work with our clients throughout the entire design process on every project. We hope that this helped you understand if you have proper artwork.

Should you update your logo?

Would you say a business logo is important? Being branded with a symbol or picture so that when people see it they know exactly what company you are. This is an ultimate goal that all companies big and small would love to achieve. Now if you have your logo and you have been in business for 5 or more years many people wonder if you should change your logo or update it and the answer is yes. The trick to this is to just update the logo not completely change it. You want your brand to remain recognizable, so subtle changes can go a long way.

An example of this is the Microsoft logo. In 2012 Microsoft changed their logo for the first time in 25 years. The colors stayed the same while the shape of the logo took on a more simplified appearance. Some people loved it some hated it but nonetheless people were talking about it.

Here at Fast-Trac Designs we did something similar for one of our clients. In 2011 The logo was designed and now in 2017 they decided to change to an updated version. We have applied it to business cards and their company truck so far. We believe that the updated logo will catch attention due to the brightness and colors used as well as the over all look appearing more current.

In the end updating or making changes to your company logo is a good idea. Is it required? Certainly not but sometimes a slight change can get people talking and noticing your brand.

Have you seen this truck?!

This 1965 Chevy modified fiberglass race truck has caught attention nationwide. The new build was brought to us at Fast-Trac Designs to receive a custom designed vehicle wrap that would portray speed and show off the Redneck Racing logo.  The graphic artist for this project had quite the vision and even hand drew the grill and headlights which were wrapped to appear reflective and take on a realistic look of headlights. Along the sides and on the front of the truck are flames with very attentive details such as the logo and lightning which are also shadowed throughout the remaining length of the vehicle.

The full coverage wrap went through design, print and installation processes here at Fast-Trac Designs. We only use top of the line material available by 3M for all of our wraps, this project was printed on 3M IJ180-CV3 Contoltac with 8518 laminate. We used the HP Latex 360 printer which is rated to be among the best printers in the industry.

The estimated time to finish the wrap installation was 16 hours, however this vehicle is not complete. It is a new build and is still being modified before its first race in Arizona. The goal is to obtain about 3,000 horsepower and be the fastest race truck in the world. This will take a special licensed driver once completed and if you have the chance to see a race pay close attention because you will not want to miss this truck.

Making Dentistry A Little More Comfortable

The dentist can be scary for anyone however children going for the first time will take a lot more comforting through such a process. Recently at Fast-Trac Designs we had the chance to help a pediatric dental office find another way to show that they are a caring and child friendly facility. We incorporated the safari animal theme of West Valley Pediatric Dentistry onto two company vehicles.
Our design team adjusted the art to fit the body styles of each vehicle so that the animals featured in the art would stand out along with the offices contact information. The vehicle wraps extend the theme of the office featuring fun and happy animals with a toothbrush and floss and when in the office children can watch their favorite movies comfortably while the doctor cares for their teeth. We highly recommend  West Valley Pediatric Dentistry and urge you to visit their website and view the photos below of their vehicle fleet.

When we say custom wraps we mean it. This is one for the books and is certain to get the looks with its unique design and fine detail. Fast-Trac Designs designed, printed and installed the wrap with our senior designer, top of the line printer, 3M material and pro installers. This wrap has a rough and tough look in the front with a faded black design and flames which perfectly transition to the mustang horse then fading to a soft frill design and then into solid orange. Our customers reaction to her new Mustang wrap was priceless and we are so happy she is pleased with the final outcome of her custom wrap.

Features Of A Wrap

AEA Plumbing recently came to Fast-Trac Designs to have their Ram 2500 wrapped with a straight forward yet attractive design. The main features would be the subtle background image of a shower head with water. This image is perfect because it is not over powering the design and it relates with what the wrap is selling. Another attraction to this van wrap is the vivid neon green that is dispersed throughout the wrap and not overbearing to look at. Finally most companies add a tag line or catchy slogan to any of their advertising and this wrap features two! We found this unique and also another way to show off more of your companies traits. Overall we are fond of this wrap and the customer was highly satisfied and that gives it a ten.

Live The Matte Life

Vehicle wraps have been widely known for mobile advertising and are now becoming more popular among the general public as an alternative to a custom paint job. Vehicle wraps are completed in one day as opposed to painting which can take several weeks. Recently at Fast-Trac Designs we completed what is known as a color transformation on a Mercedes. The original color was black however our customer had a vision of a pure white, clean look. We went with matte white 3M 1080-M10 and inside accents that were once a wood look were covered in white carbon fiber vinyl or 1080-CF10. The finished product was extremely bright! We also had a little contest on Twitter and Facebook (#colorchangecontest) that featured a cropped photo of the wrap, we asked people to guess what color the vehicle was changing to and we had one winner Larae Perez with Dynamite Diesel, Larae scored 10% off her next purchase from Fast-Trac Designs. Congrats!

Options For Advertising On The Go.

No matter what size your business is advertising is extremely important to bring in new clients. At Fast-Trac Designs we create custom graphics and frequently they are applied to vehicles so that businesses can advertise while they drive through the valley. We have several cost effective options for vehicle advertising to fit all types of budgets. Here are a few examples:

Vehicle Magnets are great for just starting out a business. They can be removed and applied as needed because they adhere to your vehicle. However, they are high maintenance as magnets need to be cleaned often, as well as the surface that they will be applied to.
Vinyl Lettering is a more permanent solution that is great for any company on the rise. The vinyl decals last up to at least *3 years and will gather more attention for clientele. Vinyl lettering can be removed if necessary but may leave a light silhouette of the previous text.
Last but not least, vehicle wraps. Wrapping a vehicle is becoming more popular these days because of how effective it is. Adding a wrap to your vehicle or fleet of vehicles will highly increase your customer intake and put you above your competitors. Vehicle wraps can be applied to any vehicle and removed leaving no damage to the original paint. vehicle wraps can last up to at least 5 years* and will pay for themselves in about 1 to 3 months.

If you are in need custom vehicle advertising please contact Fast-Trac Designs and let us bring your business to life and gain the clientele you need!

Forever Forward.....Faster!!!

Tim Boychuk brought his race car to Fast-Trac Designs for a complete over haul and a whole new look. Fast-Trac created a new car design that still featured the trademark of Tim Boychuk in a unique yet subtle way. Here at Fast-Trac Designs, we removed all of the old decals then sent the car to a body shop for sanding (our customer was not a fan of the red, green and silver paint.)  Then once back at the shop we had a clean, smooth surface to wrap and the installation went perfectly. This race car is set for the raceway and it is sure to get the looks as well. Good Luck Boychuk Racing!

Hulk Is blogworthy

Once again we have past projects that should have made the blog. Better late then never so here it goes :-)

Fast-Trac Designs had the wonderful opportunity to create monster graphics for a custom Hummer. The Hummer featured a theme of "Gray Hulk" that Fast-Trac Designs brought to life with custom 3M vinyl graphics.
